ADOLESCENT CARE
Care Designed for Adolescents, Not Adapted From Adults
Adolescent Care
Deep TMS is FDA-cleared for people with Major Depression ages 15 and above — the widest age range of any TMS system. We help teenagers navigate depression, with families involved every step of the way
What Adolescent Depression Really Is
Depression in teenagers does not always look like sadness. It can show up as irritability, withdrawal from friends and family, a drop in grades, or a loss of interest in things they used to enjoy.
It can be easy to mistake for typical teenage moodiness — but it is a real, treatable condition, and it deserves to be taken seriously.
Adolescence is also a critical window. The brain is still developing, which means early, effective treatment can make a meaningful difference not just now, but for years to come.
What Adolescent Treatment Looks Like
Deep TMS for adolescents is FDA-cleared with different considerations by age.
-
For ages 15 to 17, it is used as an add-on to therapy and/or medication for major depression, not as a replacement for the care they may already be receiving.
-
At age 18 and above, Deep TMS is FDA-cleared as a standalone treatment for major depression.
Whatever your teen's age, we work alongside your family, your teen's therapist, and any prescribing physician to build one coordinated plan.
How We Treat Adolescents
Every teenager's depression looks different — so Dr. Bermudes builds the plan around your teen specifically, not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Treatment may include:
Who We Help
- Adolescents ages 15–17 seeking Deep TMS as part of a broader treatment plan
- Young adults ages 18–21 who may be candidates for Deep TMS as a standalone treatment
- Families who want a coordinated plan involving existing therapists or psychiatrists
- Teens who have not responded adequately to therapy or medication alone
