Deep TMS sessions are in person. Dr. Bermudes conducts medication management and psychotherapy appointments over telehealth, in states where he is licensed (CA, NV). In some clinical situations, in-person appointments are preferred, and Dr. Bermudes works with you directly on that.

Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS) is a noninvasive, FDA-cleared brain stimulation treatment. It uses magnetic pulses to stimulate the brain networks involved in mood, anxiety, and OCD, helping the brain rewire itself over a series of sessions. 

Yes. Deep TMS is FDA-cleared and has been used safely in tens of thousands of patients. It does not require anesthesia, and you can drive yourself to and from your appointments. The most common side effect is mild scalp discomfort during treatment, which typically fades after the first few sessions.

You sit comfortably in a chair while a device delivers magnetic pulses to a specific area of your scalp. Sessions typically last 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the protocol. Many patients read, listen to music, or simply relax during treatment.

This varies by person and protocol. Some patients notice changes within the first two weeks; for others, it takes longer. Dr. Bermudes monitors your progress throughout and adjusts your plan as needed.

No. Many of our patients are already in therapy, and we are designed to work alongside that relationship, not replace it. With your permission, we coordinate directly with your therapist.

Yes. Many patients are referred to us by their own psychiatrist specifically for Deep TMS. You remain their patient throughout, and we coordinate any medication-related decisions directly with them.

Conventional Deep TMS is typically delivered over six weeks. An accelerated protocol is also available for patients who want faster results in fewer visits.

We do not treat once and discharge. We support you through maintenance and are here if you ever need to step care back up.

Yes. Dr. Bermudes co-authored a 2026 multisite randomized trial published in Brain Stimulation, studying an accelerated Deep TMS protocol. The trial found strong outcomes, with a majority of patients responding and reaching remission.
